One of the most important rules of any wedding, whether you attend as a guest, a wedding party member, or even as the coordinator, is to never upstage the bride. She may be wearing a big white poofy dress or a classicly simple sheath, but a wedding is her day.
The rules vary depending on your own traditions and culture as to what color to wear, and the wedding itself will dictate how formal the attire will be, so guests generally can get along. And most brides choose their bridesmaids' attires (hopefully with help from the girls themselves!).
But what about the second-most important girl of the day? Yes, the mother of the bride. I've known brides who wanted their mothers to look frumpy, brides who couldn't care less if Mom outshone them, and everyone in between. Styles for "Mother of the Bride" dresses fall anywhere and everywhere among the spectrum. How does one ever choose?
In comes Nancy at DesignerApparel.com, who alerted me to this awesome tool: a shopping page specific for Mother of the Bride Dresses! You and your mom(s) are sure to find a spectacular choice among these gorgeous designer gowns (some of which are on sale)!
I'd have to say this one is right up my mom's alley: the J Kara Beaded Mock Two Piece Chiffon Dress & Jacket She loves jackets over long dresses--and the beads under the chiffon add the perfect fun but elegant pizazz.
